In January 1996, after practicing with large law firms for over
ten years, P. Matthew Glavin established his own litigation practice,
Glavin & Associates, Ltd. A small practice by design, Mr. Glavin
manages each matter personally, adding staff as needed and tailoring his
services to the client's specific needs and goals.
Biographical/Professional Background
Mr. Glavin graduated from DePaul University School of Law in 1985. During his third year he was awarded the first Award of Excellence in the school's advanced trial advocacy program. In 1985, Mr. Glavin joined the law firm of Pretzel & Stouffer, Chtd. Within his first two years of practice, in addition to working on a full load of trial cases in a supporting capacity, Mr. Glavin briefed a matter pending before the Illinois Supreme Court and successfully briefed and argued a case before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. In 1986, Mr. Glavin was awarded the Illinois Bar Association's Lincoln Award for excellence in legal writing.
In 1987, Mr. Glavin joined Ross & Hardies, a larger Chicago-based litigation firm with a greater national presence and broader commercial and tort litigation opportunities. In a short time, Mr. Glavin was assigned full responsibility for significant litigation matters. For example, in 1989, Mr. Glavin represented one of the firm's national manufacturing clients in a case involving claims to recover title to assets necessary to operate its business. After a successful jury trial, Mr. Glavin's client was awarded property valued at over four million dollars. In December 1992, Mr. Glavin was named a partner with Ross & Hardies.
In January 1996, Mr. Glavin established Glavin & Associates, Ltd. and continues to obtain successful results for his clients in a wide range of legal matters. Mr. Glavin has handled many trial and appellate matters in various state and federal courts as well as a number of non-litigation matters, a small sample of which follows.
In addition to his private practice, since 1992, Mr. Glavin has been part of the adjunct faculty of Loyola University's School of Law, teaching courses in legal writing and research and in Illinois pretrial procedure.
